About Categories

Spendigo tries to provide you with a helpful hierarchy of categories with which to break down your spending, including sub-categories for popular items.

Occasionally it is not so obvious which category to use, so this description may help. Where you don’t see a sub-category that you need, just use the category of the group.

  • Money

If you just want to record what you buy and nothing more, you can safely ignore the categories in this section.

However, if you want to keep track of your cash as well, let Spendigo know what cash you withdraw, deposit, lose and gain as well as spend and it will keep track of how much cash you have left.

Keeping track of cash gives more detail.

    • Cash

Withdrawing cash using an ATM/wall dispenser, or buying currency at a Bureau de Change. The cash you obtain is always paid for from your own money or credit.

    • Gain

Money you were given, you found or won, or cash left over from a previous vacation that you can use on this one, and so on. Anything where the money you get did not come from your own money or credit.

    • Deposit

Paying cash back into your bank or onto your credit card.

    • Loss

Money that you gave as a gift or donated to charity, or you lost, or that was stolen, or taken for a fine.
